Has to do with the size of the forcing cone on the Remmy. Factory cowboy loads have a 454 bullet, and shooting those sprays me with lead backsplash. That was just for the 1858/6 shot cylinder. If you want a "drop" cyl, Howell should have them as well as gated conversions.

The 8" has a Howell 45 colt conversion cylinder while the 5.5" one has a Kirst gated 45 colt conversion cylinder.
