Had a magma crab crawl up and incinerate a dwarf. Dig a path below where you want to place your forges, place a grate on the side the magma will come in, then channel the final tile from above to let the magma in. That will give you safe access for your forges.

You would need to build a wall in the flooded location. but before you can do that the water needs to be removed. Probably the easiest way is to dig a drain to the edge of the map one Z level below, then dig up into that spot.
